The Angel
The angel shed a single tear,
that's all she had left.
For days before that's all she did,
like a child she had wept.
Her wings lay lifeless beside her now,
unknown if they will ever take flight.
Her heart is empty, nothing but void,
only darkness is in sight.
Her halo is dull and tarnished,
the glow is all but gone.
No one knows the fear she holds
as she waits for dawn.
That fear is known as loneliness,
like being trapped inside a wall.
It leaves you feeling worthless,
the saddest fear of all.
But, as the angel shed her tear
she felt a touch from above,
as she was rescued out of the pit
by the healing touch of love.
"Sometimes all we need is a friend who cares."
