Old Fashion Egg Nog Recipe

Ingredients

1 quart whole Mile or 2% milk

6 eggs

¼ teaspoon salt

1/2 cup sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 cup whipping cream whipped

Preparation:

Heat milk in large saucepan until hot (do not boil or scald)

While milk is heating, beat together eggs and salt in a large bowl, gradually adding sugar.

Gradually add hot milk mixture to egg mixture. (add hot milk very slowly into egg mixture and whisk or you will have scrambled eggs)

Add mixture to large saucepan and cook on medium-low heat.

Stir constantly with a whisk until mixture thickens and just coats a spoon.

Thermometer should read 160 degrees. Stir in vanilla

Cool quickly by setting pan in a bowl of ice or cold water and stir for 10 minutes.

Cover and refrigerate over night.

Before serving, fold in whipped cream and dust with ground nutmeg.
