Polls close here at 8:00 PM PST tonight. Of course those in line will still be allowed to vote. Our Governor's race is much closer than the Presidential race. Pity that, but the Republicans ran some very effective dirty campaign advertisements. Spoils go the the winner I guess, but I sure hope when all the votes are counted the incumbent manages to beat off the upstarts attack.

Back to the Presidential race. I am so grateful, so grateful I lived to see this. It makes me sad my baby brother isn't here to celebrate with me (they are talking this minute on ABC News about drug addicts voting too, I've no doubt my alcoholic little bud would have voted today for sure), but this is the bloodless revolution we dreamt about back in the 1960's. I have lived to see the day! Hallelujah, amen, and pass the biscuits! We are finally doing it, and I have lived to see it!!! I realize y'all can't fully appreciate just how grateful I truly am, but that's okay.

"The times, they are a'changin.'" __Bob Dylan

I do confess to being a little sad no one is dropping by here tonight to share this moment, but expect you are all celebrating in your own ways. So, for that I am happy too.

I've been vindicated. So many things I have said the last days, and even weeks have been said by news-heads tonight, generally verbatim (my wife is impressed--she thinks CNN should hire me). For a month I've been telling her, we need to not just win we need a LANDSLIDE so the Far Right crooks can't pull another GW And The Supreme Court Nine Runaround again. This last week I have predicting the landslide would happen. With each day I became even more certain. I was right, it's a landslide! So far the Senate is still 56 - 40 Democrats ahead. I would LOVE to see it 60 - 40, but am not so certain about that possibility as I've been about Barack's big win. Whatever, anyway the Senate lead is strong enough for Obama to have a good first two years.

We need to get a lot done. There is a lot of America to be repaired. The Dem lead in the Senate will help with that. It's been a long time since I've felt such optimism for my nation's future. I am elated tonight. Barack and Michelle are so perfect! He will cut an historic figure in history. He'll be one of the presidents pointed out as exemplary to students far into the future. Michelle is so poised and gracious she will make a beautiful first lady! And, they are both SO intelligent! What a huge difference between Obama/Biden and McCain/Palin!

I lived to see today. I lived to see it. I lived to see it! _ I _ am _ so _ happy.

I couldn't watch the "blow by blow" on MSNBC last night (in spite of 4 of my favorite talking heads being on the panel) so I just read until about 10:45pm.  Just in time to turn on the TV for Barack's acceptance speech.  Eloquent as always.  Loved how he thanked everybody!

When I saw tears in the eyes of Oprah and Jesse Jackson in the audience in Chicago, I thought that was a bit much.   Then, when the Families of Obama and Biden came onto the stage, and Biden's Mom, Michelle's Mom, and Barack's Brother were all up there hugging - then even I started leaking tears!!!  That group of variously colored, and age-ranging people standing on that stage last night represents what I believe America is all about!!!!

I got an email from Sister this morning, however, forwarding an email from her Hubby.  He's out on his Oil Rig 100 miles from Louisiana, and physically ILL at learning his Manchurian Candidate (my term, not his, naturally) didn't win!!!  He seems to have the notion that Obama is going to close all oil rigs and postpone brother-in-law's retirement!  WTF?  Where do some people get their info?

Some of us are so happy our feet are hardly touching the ground this morning.  But, there are those who's Candidate didn't win who now know how we felt 4 years ago when the Supreme Court decided the Election - not the People.

I just watched the video of McCain's consession speech last night.  Best speech I ever heard him make!

There were some sore losers in that crowd listening to him, though.  I think even McCain was appalled by the "boos" every time he mentioned Obama's name.  I applaud McCain for his attempts to toss oil upon that roiled ocean of a crowd.

I was thinking of all of you, but I was GLUED to my television...I wept as he spoke.  We have remembered what a leader is, and we have chosen wisely...

Bless Barack Obama!!!

The nightmare of the neocon may be over.

Given their reaction in McCain's concession speech audience last night, It appears America may have removed that cancer from its representation for a long time, if not for good.
