CARAMEL CAKE

Preheat oven  for at least 10 minutes, to 350 degrees.

2 cups cake flour (sift before measuring)
1 cup brown sugar sifted in with flour

Add:
1 stick  softened butter
2 eggs
1�? cup plus 1 tablespoon milk
1�? teaspoon salt
2 level teaspoons double-acting baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla

Beat for 3 minutes. Bake in greased pan for 30 minutes.

 

ICING:

2 tablespoons cake flour
1�? cup milk
1�? cup brown sugar
1�? cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 stick softened butter
1/2 stick margarine

Mix cake flour and milk together. Cook to a thick paste over low heat, stirring . Cool. Mix sugars and vanilla with butter and margarine. Beat
until light and fluffy. Mix in the cool flour paste. Beat
until fluffy.

We tried making this last night but I don't think Corey beat the frosting enough, it was not nice and fluffy.   He didn't have time, we had other business to tend to.
