Hosea 4 6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children. I like the last caution above, which reads, “My people are destroyed for lack of Knowledge.?
The word knowledge there is the same word used for knowing someone intimately, as in “Adam knew Eve.?So the correct rending of that text should be “my people are destroyed for lack of knowing me.? It’s kind of sad that the word “knowledge?was used to deter greatly from the meaning. Knowledge is too vast of a word because you can’t know everything and knowing doesn’t necessarily guarantee not being destroyed However, what that scripture meant to say is herald in this verse, “For the people that know their God shall be strong and do exploits?(Hos 4:6). In other words, it’s after having an intimate relationship with Jesus through his spirit and word then you can do great things, like casting out devils. |
