Hey all...a while ago I had a story told me that absolutely changed my life, was a huge wake up call, and the thing is, is that it's a true story, I pray that you recieve something from it as I did.
There was a business man, who lived a fairly normal life. He would wake up, go to work, come home and do what needed to be done. He went to church on Sundays, and basically did what he felt was "right". Well, one day he purchased a brand new BMW, which he had been saving up for. While driving home on a neighborhood road, a brick suddenly flew out from behind a parked car and hit the side of the brand new car. The man came to an immediate stop, cheeks red with rage. He stormed out of the car and yelled, "Who threw that brick?!?!?"
A small timid child peered out from behind the car, tears rolling down his cheeks. He timidly replied,"I did, sir." The man now more furious then before came near the boy and yelled, "Why you idiot child!!!???" The boy then lowered his chin and said,"My older brother fell out of his wheelchair, and I'm too small to help him up." As he pointed behind the parked car. The man saw an older boy, laying on the ground, scarred and bruised from the fall. All of a sudden the man was drawn back into something he hadn't felt before. He felt his throat start to swell up and his cheeks lose their color. He slowly helped the older boy back into the wheel chair, and pushed him to his house.
It seemed to be the longest walk of his life as he made his way back to his now dented BMW. He realized that if took such a thing as a brick to help him stop and realize what went on in other peoples worlds, that he is not to worry about his. He realized how self centered his life was, and that he'd been living all wrong.
To this day that dent still remains on the BMW, as a reminder, that it should not take that much to be an eye opener.
The message is, don't be like that man, and wait for that brick to come flying at you, take the chance now to draw yourself back, and look at what's going on around you, and realize those who are around you, who are in need.
Amen
