His Good Treasure

Prov 28:22 A man with an evil eye hastens after riches, and does not consider that poverty will come upon him.

I’ve got some exciting news for you today: "The Lord will establish you as a holy [person] to Himself, just as He has sworn to you, if you keep the commandments of the Lord your God and walk in His ways. Then all peoples of the earth shall see that you are called by the name of the Lord, and they shall be afraid of you."

"And the Lord will grant you plenty of goods, in the fruit of your body, in the increase of your livestock, and in the produce of your ground, in the land of which the Lord swore to your fathers to give you. The Lord will open to you His good treasure, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand. You shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow."

"And the Lord will make you the head and not the tail; you shall be above only, and not be beneath, if you heed the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you today, and are careful to observe them."(Deu 28:9-13)

If, if, if, if!!!! No, I’m not stuttering, I just want you to understand that none of the above will apply to you, unless you get your "ifs" in order! Read the Scripture above again, and you’ll discover that you must do as God "commands" you, BEFORE you can claim any of His promises! No, His "commandments" are not suggestions; that’s the reason they’re called "commandments!"

You may be thinking, "Those "commandments" were given in the Old Testament, and we are no longer bound by them." Well, if that’s your position, you’re half right, and half wrong. They certainly were given in the Old Testament, and of course we cannot be saved simply by keeping God’s "commandments!"

However, the "principles" contained in His "commandments" will never change. And you can be absolutely certain that you cannot claim His "promises" unless you live according to the "principles" contained all through His word, including both the Old and the New Testament! How do I know that? Because God said of Himself, "I am the Lord, I do not change!"(Mal 3:6)

My friend, God's standards don't change to fit the mood, or perverted desires of our contemporary society, so listen to your Heavenly Father as He says to you, "What is the hope of the hypocrite, though he may gain much, if God takes away his life? Will God hear his cry when trouble comes upon him?"(Job 27:8,9)

Therefore, I've come your way today to let you know that when you make up your mind to obey, and follow after your Heavenly Father, then you will have the assurance that "the blessing of the Lord makes one rich, and He adds no sorrow with it."(Prov 10:22) And let me make it perfectly clear, that the word "rich" above, refers to a whole lot more than just money and things!

As I write this, my wife and I are celebrating our wedding anniversary. I have a faithful wife who loves me, and if that’s all I had, I could honestly say that I am "rich!"   A faithful financial supporter of this Daily Meditation Ministry, shared with me just yesterday, (I'm making this vague so as not to reveal any personal information) "I just wanted you to know that my husband separates from the Navy this month, and up until last week he did not have a jobGod is faithful!!!  He blessed him with a job with a Transportation company.  It has been his dream for the past 7 years to open his own transportation company.  But with the current economic conditions he all but gave it up."

My friends up in Virginia are "rich"; God is blessing them for their faithfulness to His ministries!  As the lady testified, "God is faithful!!!"

Now, I’m going to conclude with some sound words from the New Testament: "Come now, you rich, weep and howl for your miseries that are coming upon you! Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are moth-eaten. Your gold and silver are corroded, and their corrosion will be a witness against you and will eat your flesh like fire."

"You have heaped up treasure in the last days. Indeed the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, cry out; and the cries of the reapers have reached the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth. You have lived on the earth in pleasure and luxury; you have fattened your hearts as in a day of slaughter."(James 5:1-5)

You won’t find those who teach "prosperity," using those Scriptures! Could it be that James 5:1-5 is referring to those who have amassed fortunes, given by the poor people who contribute to them? Is it possible that they are some of the "hypocrites" which Job referred to? It could be that some will have a "shanty" in Heaven, while the widows they cheated, will live in a mansion! Remember, God is a "just God!"(Isa 45:21)

And remember also that Jesus said, "Assuredly, I say to you that it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven."(Mat 19:23) Hhmmm, it would appear that both the Old and the New Testament have the same Author, and He said - -

"I am the Lord, I do not change!
