V: The Mini Series I have been watching this the last week, was on sci fi all last week (I'm sure it'll be on again too lol). I watched it in the 80's when it was on and I remember EVERYONE at school watched it and talked about it so thought for old times sake I'd give it a watch. This legendary sci fi series about alien visitors is still really good. Yes the effects are dated, very dated in fact, but it moves along really well and keeps throwing up more twists and turns in each of the episodes. I'd say for an old one it still holds up and at least it doesn't get dragged out for weeks longer than necessary like most of the ones around at the moment. Got a few giggles this time round at it, the clothes etc lol but I still enjoyed it....not watched the last one yet........ooo, I can't wait xxjojoxx |

KING OF THE BLUES Thought I'd add my bit about BB King on here as he certainly qualifys under the Entertainment title! As some of you know Gary Moore was on before BB King, personally he doesn't do much for me although he is a great guitarist, he did do a couple of tracks I really liked, mainly the more blues ones. We had to endure this though before we got to what we were waiting for BB King! Born Spetember 1925, this was his last tour at the grand age of 80. He was fantastic. Although as he told us his knee's aren't too good now so he had to sit down, it didn't make any difference, his voice as powerful blew your socks off. Listening to him and his Lucille (his guitar) just was amazing, he is a great show man. His blues band were great too. He did talk lots too, telling stories and was really quite funny, he does have a great voice and can always make you smile. I just wish I could go again, so sad when he was saying he'll never be passing by this way again. A real star, King of the Blues for sure. He's the man! xxjojoxx |

Review: Spartan Watched this last night. I've not seen Val Kilmer in much lately so thought I'd give it a whirl. The basic story outline is a high ranking govenrment official's daughter goes missing and secret agent Val Kilmer is out to get her back. William H Macy shows his face a couple of times. Written and directed by David Mamet I was thinking I might enjoy this, I loved Wag the Dog.............but I was disappointed. Its not that it was badly acted, I just found Val Kilmer's script to be unbelievable in parts, just didn't sound like what he'd have said, often sounded contrived. Found it pretty predictable too, knew what was going to happen next pretty much throughout. Certainly not one of the worst films I've seen, but I won't be watching it again. xxjojoxx |
