Apple Brown Betty recipe
4 slices bread, cubed
1/2 cup butter, melted
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
Dash nutmeg
Dash salt
3 tablespoons brown sugar, firmly packed
2 cups cooking apples, peeled and chopped
Mix bread cubes with butter, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt and brown sugar. Arrange in alternate layers with apples in crockette. Cover and cook 2-3 hours or until apples are tender.
Serve warm with cream, hard sauce or ice cream.
