Did any of you see the new reality show called Kids Nation?  It's on CBS.  They took 40 kids between the ages of 8 and 15 with no noticeable adult supervision and put them in a ghost town in the middle of the desert.  I didn't see it when it first came on but I understand the first show will be aired again on Saturday night at 8 PM EST.  Jamie sent me this link to watch it on my computer.  You can watch a brief part or the entire episode.  At first I was appalled at the idea, but after watching it, I realized that the adult camera crew was there and if any emergency arose, the kids had a way of being taken out of the area.  Now I'm rather fascinated with seeing if these kids can work it out.  What do you think?

Scherry, I've never heard of this but there are similar boot camps for wayward kids.  I think that most kids crave discipline and structure in their lives.  If this is the only way they can get attention then they'll survive the situations at these camps and come out a stronger and better person.  It's sad to think that these kids get off track because of parents who do not give a whim about their whereabouts, their grades, their friends or anything else.

I hope that these kids are successful and get on the right track for a better life.

Hugs,
Raven

Raven, the kids on this show aren't disciplinary problems.  They are just ordinary kids from ordinary families all across the country.  They are given tasks and have to learn how to live with each other without adults telling them what to do.

I have heard so much about this! I watched the first episode and I plan to continue.  I found it amazing how these kids, for the most part, jumped in and tried to make things as comfortable and easy as possible. I empathized with the ones who were homesick and I did think they kept the camera too long on the little boy that gave up and is going home.
I think they did an amazing job of cooking and trying to follow the instructions they found.  I will be watching this one as well.

Scherry I just watched this on line. I will be watching as much as I can. Thanks for alerting me to this. These kids are finding they can pull together as a team & its harder than any thing they have ever done. Paula

I saw a little bit of a programme on 'the View' this morning.  Did you know the kids chose religion above a golf course?
It shows that they are working priorities out.

This is only one reality show I think is good. I should get my girls to watch it. I have not seen a whole one yet but I know if it were my kids out there they'd make it. It takes special kids to make a go of it and make it work. It shows what their parents taught them and that when they do things right they can do it. I am so glad to see a good show like this.
