so our lovely neighbours are away for a couple of days and I was asked to call at their place tonight whilst walking Gus burger and just feed the goldfish in their garden. The fish have a very large concrete plant pot to swim in which is all set up with a pump etc. Its really nice but is also at dane height! Well I sprinkle the fish food on the water and the fish come up to eat! Gus was so interested he was watching the fish - well he was very close to the fish and before I could do anything his mouth was open and one fish "just swam in it." I had to grab that darn fish out of his mouth without damaging it. I managed to put the fish back in the water and it kind of just led there! I think it will be ok but I will have to go back tomorrow to check. Blimey - will probably have to replace it and pray my neighbour doesn't know her fish that well! LOL Hubby asked Gus if he wanted chips (french fries) with his fish! Be |

There just is NO way to Dane proof the world! How could any of us even IMAGINE fishies at perfect Dane height?? No wonder one "swam" into his mouth!! This is a tea-out-the-nose anecdote!!!!! Please let us know about the wellbeing (or nonbeing) of the fish in question.
An aside, Be: has your Dad come to live with you after your holiday, or was he just staying on a bit?
Hugs and smooches to the mighty snarer of fishes! |

UPDATE! phew - I think the fish is fine, well there was nothing floating on the top of the water this afternoon but keep this under your hat I would hate for my neighbours to discover that Gus burger was a fish thief. LOL
Katy, Dad is here still visiting from England, he will be here until April when the weather is better back home.

Your story was so funny I sent this link to my non dane owner friend but who loves Modoc. Thhis was her response. thought it was funny; It's nice to know my big white horse ended up reincarnating into a Great Dane and is living with a loving family in Australia. Dan used to plunge his head into the water tank, up to his eyeballs, and eat the mosquito fish. Disgusting, but entertaining. jeri |

Hi all, thanks for your kind words and how amazing Jeri that your friend could associate with Gus' story, Imagine a horse doing that LOL! Thanks Marty & Genny, I'm so glad you liked the story too.
My neighbour rang me on her return and never mentioned the fish at all so I didn't bring the subject up either - LOL maybe she will never know now.
