There is a 2 year old great dane named Loki in the Golden Valley Humane Society shelter.  It looks to be a brindle the picture is not that good.  We have no dane rescues in MN.  You can see her pic at animalhumanesociety.com.  This shelter is questionable regarding euthanizings animals.

She is gorgeous!! Looks like she will be held til adopted.  This was on their Myth Page:

Myth 2: Animals on the adoption floor have a fixed number of days.

Truth 2: The newly merged Humane Society has no time limits that regulate how long adoptable animals are available on our adoption floors. As long as the animal remains in good health and temperament, it is available until it is adopted. The average stay for a dog or cat on our adoption floor is 7.7 days

Can you look up Great Dane Rescues in your state and find the closest to you and call them?  Lots of times they will drive hundreds of miles to save a Dane,
Please keep us informed,
jeri

Please look at this page and see if there is anything around you that might help.  Often rescues will drive hundreds of miles to save a dane,
jeri,
please keep us posted.  I can help you call some too if you want to split them up

Also, go to petfinder.com and look up shelters in your area/state and email some all breed rescues. I have seen danes on them. That's how we got Rocky. This humane society does have an adoption fee $245.00, so makes me think might not let go to a rescue. Just a thought.

Sorry, she has to be adopted, they won't send her to a rescue.  I have a friend that has wanted a dane so she is on her way to see if she can adopt her.

Question, if they want her to be adopted..why have that adoption fee so bloody high?  I don't understand that concept.  Yes, she is very gorgeous and like others that are on that page.

That is the way that shelter has always been.  I know for sure a dane was surrender there, someone called me to let me know a dane was there.  I went there immediately to adopt the dane, they had no record of her. The dane had seperation anxiety as she was a former rescue dane.  The couple got in over their head trying to help the dane and couldn't.  I saw the receipt from the intake portion of the shelter.  If they deem the animal unadoptable you know what happens.  They have been questioned about other animals that people know have been left there.  I hope she gets adopted by my friend, haven't heard from her yet.  Even if she can't keep her, I will pay her back the adoption fee and find Loki a safe place to live.

Actually $245.00 is very reasonable considering it helps cover the cost of spaying/neutering and shots and a wellness check-up at a vet within 14 days. Also, helps with the feeding/care during the time they are there.

Had to add Rocky was only $60.00 for his adoption. So it does depend I guess where you are and how much funding the shelter gets from outside donations. That can have a lot to do with too.

When my friend got there she was gone and they will only say she is out of the building.  I am so suspicous about that place especially when it comes to danes.
