Hello! My name is Diamond. Before you make any wise cracks about the fact that I don't have wings, let me explain a few things! First of all, not all Dragons have wings.

Dragons can be long, short, thin, squatty, huge or small. We can have wings, fins, horns, bony plates, spikes or even gems! Some stand on two legs, some prefer four. Heck, some don't even have legs at all! A little known fact is that not all dragons have scales! Some have a thick leathery type of skin and some have fur. Well, not exactly fur as humans would think of it. Consider it a soft, almost fluffy skin! Oh, and I better not forget our water dragons! They also vary tremendously. Some are scaled like fish, others have a hide that would be similar to a dolphin or whale skin.

What about colors? Dragons come in a rainbow assortment of colors! Different combinations, shades and tints... if you can imagine a color, it is a safe bet that some dragon somewhere is wearing that exact color!

The thing about dragons (which is something we really can't understand about humans) is that we honor our individuality. If we all looked the same, we would be a pretty boring bunch! It makes no difference what a dragon looks like. What matters is what is in their heart. We also place a tremendous amount of importance on honor, but honor is something that springs from the heart.

Don't get me wrong. Some dragons can be downright grumpy and cross, but they are the exception and not the rule. After all, everyone (including dragons) can have a bad day. Most dragons, like most humans, are very decent creatures. Remember, what lies in a dragons heart (or humans heart for that matter), is the most important aspect of that being.

So many of your legends have us guarding treasures till death. They speak of the dedication that we have to protecting what was put into our charge. They hint at the fact that we are the guardians of the wisdom of the ages. Then they turn around and have us eating virgins and destroying entire villages for the fun of it. A bit of a contradiction, don't you think? Where is the Heart of the Dragon in those stories?

The next time you meet a dragon, don't judge them on whether they have wings or not or what color or size they are. Judge them on their heart. In fact, isn't that the way each creature deserves to be judged?
