The day wore down on Halloween. As he would have expected, the festivities at school were busy and he tried to avoid them as much as he could, hiding whenever he had the getaway. He sighed and rested his sketch pad on his lap, listening to his dad's drunk talk. It didn't feel any different than back home in Raleigh. They had used his birthday as an excuse to get drunk through Halloween. Two days of boozing and nothing else- except when he wanted to smack him around. He sighed and slid his shoes on, dressed from head to toe in black. If he was going to suffer Halloween in a city for once in his life- he wanted to try what he'd seen normal kids do: pranking. He grabbed his walkman and slipped his headphones on, taking a breath.

He slipped out of his room and listened to his parents talk loudly in their drunken state. Would they notice? He moved quickly and as quietly as he could, grabbing a carton of eggs from the fridge as he went out the back. He paused by the garage, running in to grab the cans of spray paint he had left. He didn't care where, he just wanted to go somewhere and do something. Perhaps his own house but he knew within himself that he'd be the one to clean it up and get a good asskickin on the side. He glanced next door, tempting whether or not to go get Zaina; but with how her dad was, he didn't want to risk it. And perhaps she already had plans. He knew Jeff was out and about somewhere. He had already become aware of the loser he was.

Walking down towards down town he could see some other kids had the same idea as he did- tp'ing various houses and some other damage he wasn't quite sure of. He stalled outside the school and shrugged, pulling his hood over his head and turning up the music as '2x4' by Metallica came on. He gripped one of the eggs in his hand, scoping out where he wanted to hit but shrugged and threw them in the direction of the front doors, watching each one splat against the glass and steel. As his egg supply deminished, he threw the carton on the steps and produced one of the cans of spray paint, walking around to the side. He blew some hair out of his face as he pushed up his sleeves and let himself free with it. "fuckers de las ovejas, Brock Maye aspira bolas sucias, melenudas del hombre." He looked up and chuckled. It was very rough, from what he remembered of the lessons, but it was worth it. Was it childish? Yes, but wasn't everybody on Halloween? He shook his head at himself and laughed softly, backing away. What else could there be to do on a night like this?
