There is today

The small hums of the equipment tell me that you are ok

So anxious you are to see this big world my dear

Tubes connect you to monitors so that nurses may see how you are doing

The strings that bind you to my heart cross deeper

I see your strength and feel you grip my finger

A wonder to be so small yet so strong

When I hold you I can feel the spark of generations

I know you will carry on for me someday

These struggles you have live in the now

A day will come when you are running not crawling

Times pass and you will speak , smile and laugh

But there is today and we will walk slowly
