Helping in hunt for Maddie - Two school girls from Goole have been working hard over the weekend to make [...]
Young Nicole Mahoney-Winton, who is just nine, raised a total of £405 for the Madeleine McCann Trust Fund, by selling yellow ribbons to the local community. She was featured with friend Amy Foster-Flack, also nine, in the Goole Times of May 24.
Nicole initially wanted to raise £50 for the fund by selling yellow ribbons that Nicole, her sister Abbie and her mum Joanne made, but has exceeded that by a phenomenal amount.
Nicole's mum, Joanne: "I would like to thank the Goole Times for all the help you have given my daughter in her fundraising for the Madeleine McCann Trust Fund.
"The amount of ribbons sold and the interest from the people and various businesses in Goole just goes to show that this is a town full of many kindhearted people, so thank you to all who bought Nicole's ribbons.
"Also, a big thank you to Sainsbury's, Fullers Bakery, Karen at the Beauty Box, Apollo Travel and Tesco's for selling so many ribbons.
"My biggest thank you goes to Cottage Inspirations for donating the yellow ribbon: without you it wouldn't have been possible."
She added: "I am very proud of Nicole and Abbie for their amazing effort, this will hopefully go a long way to helping search for little Maddy."
Anyone wishing to make further donations to the Madeleine McCann Trust Fund, can do so at Natwest Bank in Goole.
Rachel Carlill from the National Westminster Bank presented Nicole Mahoney-Winton with a cheque for £405.72 for the Madeleine McCann Fund 'Leave No Stone Unturned'. (21-06-60 GT)

Sir - I would like to thank your newspaper and staff at the Goole Times for the help and support you have given my daughter, who is raising funds for the Madeleine McCann Appeal Trust Fund. She felt, like many people, that any help to keep Maddie's profile in the media is very important.
She and my grandchildren have worked tirelessly to make yellow ribbons to sell for the fund; it has touched us so much, what happened in Portugal.
We all pray for her safe return and will continue to do anything we can.
The coverage in your paper and photo of Maddie is what was needed to reach as many readers as possible and for that, it is keeping this little girl in our minds. Thank you once again on behalf of my daughter and also to everyone who has given generously for this cause to help hunt for Madeleine.
