Why Does This Remind Me

".............No matter what else the papers have said, they reported two extremely important things earlier in the week: PJ inspectors involved with the case were reported to be enraged at Ribeiro's statement. And the association representing the public prosecutors was extremely unhappy as well. THOSE are the people who are responsible for gathering and evaluating the evidence in this case. I had my doubts at first and attributed much of the stumbling about by Gordon Brown's government to mere inexperience and an unwillingness to admit a major error in judgment so soon after ascending to the PM's office. I now believe that, for whatever reason, the British government HAS attempted to interfere with this case on behalf of the McCanns; it was the letter leaked through the British embassy in Belgium that decided that for me, because the government never denied it. They will have to answer for it to the British people, just as the government of Portugal will have to answer to the Portuguese people for whatever happens next. And in the end, those responsible for investigating the disappearance of Madeleine McCann will have to answer to their own consciences, and ultimately to God. Those of you who have PMed me lately will understand why I say that. I firmly believe it, and that is why I believe the PJ and the public prosecutor, no matter what the papers or Clarence Mitchell or Alberto Costa or Alipio Ribeiro's spokesperson may care to say, will do everything in their power to find out what happened to Madeleine.
I said it earlier this week: This is the hour to be brave."
