Hadn't heard this before but if you scroll right down to the bottom of this link you will see that in the photos that were returned, by the infamous 'Wallet Snatcher of Old London Town', was allegedly one of Gerry and Maddie in church shortly before her 'abduction'.
Why haven't we seen it and what time was it?
And also, what was he doing in church with her when she was on holiday 'having the best time ever'?

I would imagine it was church in UK - don't imagine he had printed and walleted holiday snaps at that point.
I think it's just worded ambiguously.

Meanwhile, stolen photographs of Madeleine McCann are safely back with her father after they were anonymously returned.
The pictures had been inside Gerry McCann's wallet when it was pick-pocketed at Waterloo Station in London. He later appealed to get them back.
an important issue is when was the last photon released ...

wouldnt that only be at special events such as a wedding or a christening?

it would be interesting to know what all of the photos in the wallet were.
and why the thief returned the wallet with the money.
Pat Brown points to this episode as possibly significant, as it may have been that the stolen wallet was actually Gerry passing a message to a confederate.

no way that wallet was stolen - merely a trick to hide something, change something or get things across ...
but what ?

Unless they weren't actual photo's but a camera card.
And anyway it couldn't have been the church in Praia da Luz because as I remember he had to ask directions to the church on the day after Madeleine went missing.

Quite often the church prohibits photos (Thou shalt make no graven image)
but may relax the rules at weddings, although often only allowing photo of the couple themselves during the service.
What is the reason for non-release of this very recent photo in the church. (which we STILL have not seen)
There is much more to this missing wallet than meets the eye - GM has been taunting and "playing" with people since 3rd May.
I read somewhere (Osho?) that you may think you have fooled an honest man, but you are wrong, it is only because the honest man allows you to think so. If you get away, escape, it is because the honest man allows you to do so.
GM believes people can't see through his tricks - he urgently needs to think again.

If is true that he took Maddie to the church in PDL on the day she *died* this would lead more credence to a premeditated act.
Logic [to me]seem to be increasingly pointing that way. But my heart can not take it in.

You are right. I hadn't thought of it like that. And Kate's mother says they weren't particularly religious before.
I now wonder: Could that be when "IT" happened?

If the photo was taken in church before their holiday....then when would this be? since granny healy say's Kate and Gerry were NOT practising Catholics. Which means they were NOT regular's at the church each sunday.........there could have been an event though like Christening or Wedding they attended before their holiday. As stated above by other poster, Gerry had to ask directions to the church in Praz Da Luz early hours of 4rth May, as he wanted to see the priest.

Isn't there just ... the suggestion it could've been a camera card or sim is not too far-feached ... strange also why the ' Patient - on - the - Plane ' has never been discovered by the media ... or come forward to thank GM for saving his life ...
I agree it often seems GM's taunting the public ... with his arrogant and condescending attitude.

Oh my ... what a thought ... the wallet incident could've been a guise to get rid of the camera memory card ... ' if ' the last photo of Madeleine was taken in church.
The church has always felt significant to me ... call it lapsed catholic guilt
