Thank you for your email. I am sorry for the delay in our response.
We have noted your comments about Dr McCann. We are aware of the media coverage surrounding the McCanns. We cannot confirm whether or not we are investigating a doctor until and unless a date is set for a public hearing into the doctor’s fitness to practise, or there are Interim Orders placed on the doctor’s registration. This is in line with our duty of confidentiality to complainants and doctors. Information about doctors?registration is available online through the GMC website's List of Registered Medical Practitioners.
The GMC has the power to limit or stop a doctor's right to practise medicine where there is evidence of impaired fitness to practise. Where a doctor comes to our attention we review the evidence available and if necessary investigate further to decide if the doctor’s fitness to practise may be impaired. You can read more about how we investigate concerns about doctors on our website at http://www.gmc-uk.org/concerns.....index.asp.
Yours sincerely

Dear Sirs,
I would like to formally raise complaints with relation to the above practising Doctor.
Mr Gerry McCann registration number 3585920 was declared a suspect in the disappearance of his daughter Madeleine in September 2007. Given his status of official suspect in the disappearance of his daughter I do believe it is unethical for him to remain on the GMC register until the case is fully investigated and completed. Also, given the suspician that he sedated his daughter I fear for the safety of any patients under his care.
I look forward to your reply in relation to my complaint.
Yours faithfully,
****** * ********
