Madeleine McCann - Spanish poster campaign
Feb 14 2008
A poster campaign aimed at raising the Spanish public’s awareness of Madeleine McCann’s disappearance - alongside that of two other children - will be launched today.
The “Don’t You Forget?drive will see images of the three missing youngsters mailed out to businesses and public sites across Spain and its islands.
It is hoped that the posters will be displayed in banks, schools, churches, stations and other prominent places in a bid to boost the profile of the campaigns.
Each mailshot will include two A3-size posters - one showing Madeleine and five-year-old Mari Luz Cortes and one with the missing British girl and seven-year-old Yeremi Vargas.
Mari Luz went missing on January 13 in her home town of Huelva, 120 miles from Praia da Luz - where four-year-old Madeleine went missing last May.
Yeremi disappeared from his home in Gran Canaria on March 10, 2007.
A letter in Spanish will accompany the posters explaining their purpose. It will also contain information for people wishing to contact the authorities if they believe they can help.
In all, some 17,400 packs have been produced, costing the Find Madeleine Fund £3,000.
An email version of the posters is also being sent out to thousands of recipients.
The launched comes a day after Portugal’s justice minister Alberto Costa said the police investigation into Madeleine’s disappearance was “approaching the conclusion of the process?
Mr Costa added that it was “premature?to say whether the investigation would reveal what happened to Madeleine, citing British statistics showing that about 80% of similar cases in the UK remained unresolved.
It is now 287 days since four-year-old Madeleine vanished from her family’s holiday apartment in Praia da Luz.
