There was a thread on the titanic, sorry mean the mf with regards to Esther mcvey standing down from the find maddie fund, has she actually issued a statement yet stating why? I know we had the usual carp from clarrie but wondered if Esther could answer this one herself yet?

Not heard or seen anything from Esther as yet - and many of us would like to know the 'whys', 'hows' and 'whens' of this grubby saga.
I'm amazed that a woman of her supposed intelligence didn't bail out a lot quicker ...

Thanks Crone, wondered if maybe I had missed a statement from her because the silence on her part speaks volumes to me. Can you remember who asked this original question back on mf?

We'll never hear anything from her on this subject. If she has her way her time with the Fund will be carefully airbrushed from history

It's to her credit that she got out when she did, as, no matter what, the fund has become inappropriate.

I think something must be up. surely you wouldnt leave a "charity" run for the missing child of one of your oldest friends without good reason. even if she had stepped down to be just a board member I could understand that. but to leave totally makes me wonder that she is not happy with how the fund is run. I didnt buy her leaving to "spend more time with her family" or as she said her masters course etc...

My thoughts too. I found it telling that she stood down at a time when things were getting rather uncomfortable for the McCanns. Surely if personal commitments were the reason, a bigger show of support - as a longtime friend - would have been to take a backseat role in the fund but remain in post, rather than public appearing to be jumping from the sinking ship.

Perhaps Ms. McVey like a lot of people started to have great doubts. She must have seen where the money was going, and questioned it? Metodo 3 for example, she may have started to wonder why hire them when they seem rather inept and also what the very high payments to them were really about.
If she now has great doubts about their total innocence, she may have already expressed that to the relevant authorities but we are not privilege to that information.
I am not saying her reasons for being a part of the fund were totally altruistic, but I am not going to judge her too harshly yet.

Nice one Unclemonty - the joke is especially not lost on me - as that message was directed at me personally. Funny though, never did change my mind about Ms McVeigh, and after the report about her recent shenanigans (posted kindly by Shubob shortly before MF site went down???) I certainly do not admire this woman.
Let's face it - she's was the media face/ spokesperson of a fund asking the public for kind donations. Public money = Responsibility and accountability Esther. You have shown neither by resigning with no explanation, in effect leaving out the back door on a good day for burying the bad stuff.
Wonder if she'll be at the twins birthday party???

Love to see some MORE trusty old threads reappear that went down on 'Mirror Forum Black-out' Day. Make's one feel at home, especially knowing that it'll get certain backs up.

Another strange one - was the list of questions that nbrado, of all people compiled on Esther's request? People on the board duly put their mosty carefully thought out probing questions amounting to about three or four pages...but no answers were forthcoming and the thread died.
Make's one wonder if these questions were compiled purely for Esther's own personal use - to find out what Joe Public really might put to her in a public forum should she find herself in a tricky position further down the line....And perhaps some of them got a bit too close to the truth...hence her resignation???
I don't know for sure these ever got to her, but I do believe people tried to contact her....And as she was working for a public fund - the least she could have done was answer....So Rude!

Oh I forget, we won't get to hear about those sort of things anymore. Not now they've got rid of their Spokes-person for the Fund.

nbrado Hi JT well I was removed from the mirror but did get the message out that all further attempts to get in contact with esther were either ignored or rejected.
I had the list for her of the questions people submitted on the thread at MF
Esther was to call me back but never did.
I left messages at her private company address and also emails but no response.
make of it what you will.
I still think I was lucky to get as far as I did with her and I will say she was very nice.

ok they said work commitments took her away, but failed short of mentioning those political aspirations.

She was probably advised not to speak further and it was her right.

I just found this thread on the second page of topics.
After reading through it, it´s crystal clear that the subject of EMcV
is still a sensitive one.
I well remember the thread as it was on the last day of the MF.
In any case, to date, IMO, EMcV has given no sign of life, other than to expunge the McCs from her
blog and be tried (and convicted, if I am correct? Or is sentenced the correct term?) for her electoral activities.
So here goes my first bump for the thread.

Nbrado, I certainly didn't want you to harrass E.McV, however, if she agreed to get back to you and she didn't - then you have to admit this does appear a tad suspicious. And as she's a PR woman for goodness sake - you'd think she'd be capable of spinning herself out of this, but as it is - she's gone to ground. And removed all details of her connection to the fund and her old friends, the McCanns, from her website???
Anyway, please can we have the compiled list you said you put to her? Prove that it's not too sensitive an issue, hey?

Oh and Sir Prize, in the light that the fund did in fact have a meeting yesterday....(according to press reports - £500,000 and plummeting, and still paying Metodo 3 £50,000 per month) - if you want to set up another thread re: expenditure as posted - I'll certainly help contribute as there doesn't seem to be a serious thread about this as yet. (Perhaps Nbrado's list could be an opener?)

Sheeple - I would think 'Dave' would want to keep as far away from sleaze as possible at the moment seeing as he looks pretty smug watching his opposite number become more and more embroiled in it.
E.McV's recent court shenanigans can't have gone down too well at Tory HQ either. Neither will it have done her reputation as a prospective Rising Star MP much good, particularly as they are trying so hard to rid themselves of their old tag 'The Nasty Party' preferring to let Nu-Labour inherit that title now - 'The Nu-Nasty Party' perhaps? Has a certain ring about it wouldn't you say???

Have just been browsing Nigel's fab Site - and apparently the Fund Board (obviously after recent meeting) has confirmed that there is £540,000 left, and this is going down. However, they've also confirmed that Metodo 3's costs are not being paid soley by the fund...Hmmm? So, as Nigel says, what has the money been spent on?
I also wonder if this is a kneejerk defence of a few of the newspapers last week questioning the waste of money going to the agency, and more likely pre-empting the report going out tomorrow in the Sunday Times , I believe, (if reports on this forum are true) who are supposed to be running a story investigating Metodo 3???
Plus I'm sure they've been reading the various forums discussing the grey area of fund distribution - 'Legal Defence fund' or 'Find Madeleine fund' - Which is it? On the surface Metodo 3 looking for Madeleine fits perfectly into the 'Finding Madeleine Fund' Category, but serves just as well, shall we say, as the ultimate diversion tac-tic used by Defence Lawyers to delay their Clients from being brought to justice - hence it should be costed under 'Legal Defence Fund'.
Either way, I'm sure Clarrie's spinning, means more news tomorrow...
