KATE and Gerry McCann could sue Portuguese cops for £1million for failing to find missing daughter Maddie.
Top Portuguese lawyers are said to believe that if or when the case is wound down and “archived�the McCanns could sue the state.
Carlos Pinto de Abreu, one of the McCanns�Portuguese lawyers, said it would be “technically possible�to sue the Portuguese police for their failure to find Madeleine, who vanished from the family’s holiday flat in Praia da Luz on May 3.
A source close to the McCanns said last night: “Suing is something they will consider but they can’t concentrate on anything but finding Maddie.
“This is not about the money.�
The McCanns, of Rothley, Leics, have already put into action plans for libel cases against Portuguese newspapers.
Family spokesman Clarence Mitchell said yesterday: “It is a matter for their lawyers.�
