Thank you for visiting our fundraising page. We are taking part in the Scally Rally 2007 which is a driving event through Europe in a car costing less than £100.00. This years route starts in Calais (France), first stop Basel (Switzerland), day two onto Como (Italy), then day three to Cortina (Italy) taking on some of the worst alpine roads imaginable including the great Stelvio Pass on the Dolomite Road and then final destination on day four Rimini (Italy) as long as car survives. Or if not this will be a hitch-hike event, although as approximately 1200 miles to cover car is preferable option. The Rally starts Friday 14th September 2007 and we will be setting off from Little Havens at 11.00am on Thursday 13th September 2007. Visit www.scallyrally.co.uk for more information. We are team 34. We are taking a N reg Ford Mondeo Turbo diesel which we have customized 'Barry Boy' stylie. Car comes complete with ironing board spoiler, wooden skirting including plug sockets and mouse hole, fake super charger and nitrous. Unless an Italian wishes to purchase the car (although we intend to try as proceeds will go to Little Havens) it will be scrapped in Italy and we will fly home as don't think car, or us, will make a return journey! This is the second year we have taken part in the Scally Rally and feel that Little Havens is such a worthwhile local cause. The Rally itself is also supporting the Madeleine McCann appeal. Please dig deep and sponsor us online. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Little Havens Children's Hospice will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor us now!
News Flash: We did the 1200 mile course in 1500 miles after a couple of map reading errors took us into Austria and Germany! The car was awful and the engine much worse than we had expected and the alpine passess a real struggle with a maximum speed of six miles an hour uphill. So much so that we were harrassed by a driver in a 2CV for holding them up! The second stage started from The Hilton Hotel in Basel and am sure Paris and the gang will remember us for some time due the flood of oil we left on thier fore-court. Suprisingly we did manage to see some mountain tops and lakes but only through the sheer determination of driver Dal. Many, many thanks to all those have donated so far. We are currently totting up the total and awaiting for the return of some sponser sheets. We will update this site as soon as all monies collected and hope that we have meet our target. Last minute donations most welcome to support this extremely worthy cause. Cannot believe we actually made it and even recieved a trophy for 'Best in Show' although this was mainly because the organisers were so suprised that such a 'great looking' heep made it to the end. Many thanks for all your support and best wishes to all the staff at Littlehavens. With Special Thanks to: Bursta Tyres, Arena Essex Raceway, www.wellbent.cjb.net, Impulse Signs, Makermends, CTR Recovery, Autorecovery Ltd, Andy Harland and Strongbow for the insperation to do this!
