There has been some discussion recently about how our Patrols were painted originally. So far I have not seen any documents or info on paint schemes or colors for the 60 series sold in USA from 61-69. From my research I am coming up with the following...

-pre-64 had the entire Patrol painted in a solid color. ie engine compartment, interior, top and rims.
-pre-64 engine was painted in a off white cream color
-starting in 65 or 66 the engine compartment and interior were painted grey/blue, possibly this was as early as 63
-mid year, 64-67, primer was red in color, possibly for entire run of 60 series
-starting in 64-65-66 (?) all KL units had a white top
-starting in 67 (?) some units had white rims, both softop and hardtop
-late model (for now on the info) did not have an under coating on the body, chassis was undercoated but underside of body panels were painted same as rest of vehicle.
-colors offered; red, blue, white, green, yellow and tan

So far that is all I have....I know a paint code is here on the site but I think it was for all Datsun/Nissan vehicles at that time. Also I think two or more shades of green were available, a light pastie green and a dark blue/green but I am unsure....Anyone care to help me prove or disprove some of this info?

Fud- here are the color schemes of my three patrols, it looks like your generalizations are reasonably accurate from what i've seen, hope this helps.:
64originally white softtop, white engine compartment, grayish blue seats and floormats. engine is an original seafoam green. i believe the top was also grayish blue
65 red with red top, seafoam green engine, red rims, and engine compartment. also had bluesh gray floormats and the back seats are a goldish yellow, but not 100% if they are original.
69, white exterior, engine compartment, rims and top, engine is more of a chrysler blue and blue/gray bucket seats

Hey Daner,

I don't know about my intial paint statements.....I am a bit confused at this point regarding diffrent paint schemes on our USA Patrols. I know for a fact that both solid and two tone hardtops were sold, ie all green or green with white top. I also know interior came in both grey and solid. I have seen both set ups on stock all original Patrols of various years. I also think in 69 Nissan offered a two tone interior, black accents on the dash pannels. I have seen this two tone interior on lot's of 69 Patrols, all with black accents. This two tone interior was standard on the 1970's 60 series Patrol. One thing I am sure of is engine paint, it was sea green early on and then Nissan blue after that. Engine bay varied from grey to solid with possibly sea green early on. I would love to see this worked out though as it is important when trying to restore a Patrol correctly. Without any paintcodes for Patrols or some form of documentation it seems like a guessing game.
