Also has anyone done any susspension mods on this model and any problems?

PTO's have been available for Patrols for at least the last 40 years. Yes they were put on MQ/MK Patrols. In Japan the Patrol is called the Nissan Safari. By far I have seen most MQ/MK Patrols with a factory PTO coming out of Japan and being Safari's. I just recently bought a 86 5spd from a Nissan Safari that has the PTO box attached. This will be going into my 83 4spd MQ Patrol.

The Patrol is no different for suspension mods than other trucks. Spring over axle, lift kits, shackle reversal and more has been done to the trucks and is not much different than on a Jeep, Scout or the like. Lift kits are readily available out of Australia.

Hey Fud, how did you get your '83 licensed.  I'm still trying to figure a way to license mine.  Thanks Belize.

My 83 MQ comes from Germany. It was imported back in 1988 when the original owner moved to the USA. I believe it was easier to import back then and that there were less regulations on importing. When I bought it last year it came with a legal USA title so I didn't do anything other than title it here in the Wyoming.

Any truck not 25 years old is going to be a major hassle to get legal in the USA. If it is 25 years or older it is exempt from DOT & EPA regs making it easy to get registered and titled.

You might try calling customs, DOT, EPA and also your local DMV. Good luck and lets see some pictures of your truck!

Thanks for the info Fud, will let you know what turns out.  May just try and license it in Canada and send it down to Belize this Christmas with my sister-in-law and her husband.  At least it can be used down there and parts are easier to get etc.

My family is all in Canada and I may try to license it through my parents.  If not will either hang on till I can license it here in 3 years 2 months (who's counting) or send it to Belize.  Sorry won't be parting it out.
