another option would simply put a electronic fuel pump lower than the gas tank. I recently purchased a patrol 69 and it did not have the manual fuel pump only the electronic pump. Works great. the hole on the engine is replaced with a piece of metal.

If you go electric get one in the 4-7 lbs pressure range. It's also a good idea to put it as close to the tank as possible. Electric pumps are more effiecient at pushing fuel than they are at pulling fuel. Also they are less likely to get hot and vapor lock near the tank than in the engine compartmant. You can send your pump to http://www.then-now.com/ & get it rebuilt for around $80.
You can also try taking yours apart & cleaning it. Just pay attention to the direction of the valves or reads or what ever they're called.
