Just got my Patrol and it hasn't run regularly for a couple of years. It starts and idles good. But has some fits pulling away from a dead stop. I adjusted the carb a little......sprayed it down with cleaner inside and out....What's the difficulty rating on tearing off my carb and cleaning it and putting it back together. i know a guy who will do it for a 100 bucks or a little more...what makes the most sense. Oh yeah....damn the engine gets hot!!???!!!

Rochester single barrel still? It's really easy to open up and put back together. Problem is your accelerator pump not pumping. I put a new one in mine some time back but the pump bore was too worn to fix problem. so I replaced it with a reman unit for about a hundred bucks. luck of the draw, it leaked like a sieve. finally I put a weber on it. Pull the carb apart yourself, the $30 kit comes with instructions. if you want to spend $100, buy a remanufactured carb. As a Patrol owner, you are not allowed to spend money on someone elses labor, but you can give them beer! Good luck!

Yeah I should have mentioned that the previous owner put a holley pump in it..........funny thing though, maybe this is common, maybe not, but when I turn the key to ignition the pump comes on and hums like crazy. Is that normal? Other than that I appreciate the info and the advice. Andy

yes the humming like crazy is normal for a electric pump

all the fuel drains back into the tank after sitting for a bit

might look into a rochester monojet by holley  it's much better and fits like stock and still only 139.00 rebuilt from autozone

they also make a one way valve for the fuel line attaches at the tank to prevent back flow  works like a charm
