I'm looking for advice on my flat suspension in my 66 KL60. I contacted Glen @ Dobinson's and he can make me a kit which contains new springs, shocks and bushings. Only missing shackles. Price quoted was roughly $1400 with shipping. Will this kit be better than is I have a local spring shop make me new springs? I've heard that unless springs come from skyjacker, superlift or a major company they will usually ride rough and flatten out again in no time. I'm just looking to make the best decision before I spend the money. Any advice would be appreciated.

i am sure i will get burned at the stake for this one, however what i did was put 4 monroe air shocks on my 67 patrol.   with 75 psi front and rear, the ride is pretty good, the height went up about 1 1/2 inch.    the cost was about $160 and took about an hour.   the part no.  from monroe is MA705.  i also disconnected the sway bars and tied them up.   for a vehicle with open difs, it sure does well off road.

Aw comon - no one here would burn you at the stake for modifying a perfectly good Patrol. Dropping you in a lake with a rock belt to see if you float maybe, but never burning.
 
I was wondering about the sway bar disconnect thing myself. All the Heep guys do it. Since I have to drive 40 miles up winding mountain roads to get to where I play, I kind of want the sway bars for that drive. But once I'm there I would like to be able to disconnect them. I plan on looking into that some day.
 
Another thing is the limiters on the front axle. I had to adjust mine after the lift. I've been tempted to disconnect these as well, but the story is that if you get too flexed the front drive shaft might separate - that's why the limiters are there in the first place. Wouldn't want that to happen out on the trail.
 
But, I've never found the lack of tall flex a problem on the trail. With the torque of the engine the front or rear diffs will just pull me up anything.

go with 2 inch shakles  and ad a leafs to the srpings are do not use shakles longer than 2 inch  maby 2/1/2 are high lift leaf spings if you you can find them and do not put a high lift body lift go with a 2 inch no higher wel all for now
