I have been unemployed now for almost 2 months and have applied for a number of jobs both in teaching and outside of it. Today I have completed another application and will send it off this afternoon. To say that I am becoming frustrated is genuinely an understatement. I am becoming depressed by the whole situation and thank god for the support of Rose who has been my rock!
One small light in the darkness was that on February the 11th, The Sunday Age newspaper here in Melbourne published my poem Though You're Not Here in its M Magazine supplement as part of its Valentine's Day feature. After penning poetry and other writings for some 40 odd years, this was the first time anything of mine has ever been published. I suppose that I am grateful for small mercies - and - trying to remain positive; I note that Van Gogh never sold a painting in his lifetime ( these days his paintings auction for MILLIONS). Vincent: This World was Never Meant for One as Beautiful as YOU.
God Bless,
Aus
