Roses

by: Seraph

here i stand- behind suburban white -picket fences

in between my mother's prize winning roses

immaculately manicured lawns

running barefoot through the grass

as a child again, wide eyed and innocent

my parents overshadowing.

here i stand behind suburban white -picket fences

my mothers prize winning roses beheaded

underneath my feet a rainbow carpet of rose petals

with a glint in my eye

as a young adult, critical and cruel

overshadowing my parents

here i stand- behind suburban white -picket fences

my parents buried beneath prize winning roses

a spectrum of feelings

standing in the rain today i feel

like a child again

my parents overshadowing.

here i lie- in the cold ground where i came from

prive winning roses strewn over me

lying in the immaculately manicured lawns

my children stand mourning in the grass

children- like whom i used to once be

my parents - beckoning
