So you want to travel? Personally I have this enormous desire to visit France...Paris in particular
I have visited Ireland, USA, England, Hong Kong....oh and of course Tasmania..( wtg Lambie  )
Check out the adventures of friends. Add your own memories...they might just allow others to visit the place..or, you might convince them to stay clear..... If you can give details of your trips, others may well take your advice. As for Toto, he has a chick in every port..........sad to think though that he is a dog...lol

Well this lil 'ol duck hasn't done much travelling at all, although i do wander off a bit in my head! LOL...But I have spent a weekend in Adelaide. Oh la la!! I was living in victoria then and drove the six hours to get there- NOT recommended if you are travelling alone. And mobile phone coverage was almost none existant out in the middle of nowhere! And watch those speed camera's in Pinnaroo! Blimey 74 in a 60 zone costs you $250! OUCH!!!! Adelaide is a very very pretty city, very easy to drive around, there's just no way you can get lost!! It's also a very clean city and the people are fairly friendly! The churches are magnificent.Lots of parks, although when I was there it rained and they were a bit soggy for those romantic walks! hehe..The Rundall Mall is pretty cool! Heaps of shops, lots of variety! The two nights we were there we dined at a place called Fast pasta, which is apparently a chain! But it was lovely, good food and GREAT wine! I recommend buying a glass and not the whole bottle! hehe...Take a drive up into the hills, it's quite beautiful up there and you can stop off at a few wineries for a bit of tasting! mmmm mmmm!  Oh and take more than a few days out if you go, there is definately a ot more to see and do that I just didn't have time for..bugger that means I'll have to go there again...gee what a shame!! LOL......

 Next installment........Maldon!!

I decided to forget about Maldon ( no offence!) and skip straight to one of the most gorgeous places I have ever been.
Here you'll find beaches with the whitest of white sand and the absolute most gorgeous aqua coloured ocean. Whether it's swimming, sailing, surfing, and anything in between. If you're a shell collector like me you will be delighted at the variety. If you love a good old aussie barbeque you'll be impressed with the number of facilities along the beaches. There are also plenty of areas where you throw down a picnic rug and let the kids go feral on the play equipment.
From the beaches you can take a quick car ride to some magnificent mountain country. The views from the mountains are spectacular, ranging from glimpses of the ocean to the city lights (at night!). Depending where you go you'll find water falls and  walking trails with plenty of native plant life to awaken the senses.Bird life is abundant and plenty of native birds can be spotted by those with a keen eye. Again you'll find lots of places to have a barbeque or picnic with glorious surrounds.
Travel in another direction and you'll find yourself in wine country. Vineyards abound with tastings and restruants in a relaxing atmosphere. You can sit out doors and enjoy river views whilst sipping on some of the finest wines and food. Another option is to take a river wine cruise and enjoy the passing scenery in a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere.
If night clubbing is our scene you'll be in seventh heaven with a huge variety of venues to choose from. Why not dine in one of the fabulous restraunts first then head off for a walk around town and club hop? Who can stop at just one??  If you are brave (or maybe had just the right amount of alcohol!) there are several venues that have karaoke. Many a fun filled night has been had by those who can sing, those who think they can sing and those who just don't care either way!
No matter where you venture to in this magnificent place you will be greeted warmly by the natives! They are most helpful and proud of their home and more than willing to point you in the right direction. Of course there are all the modern facilities that you would expect, top class motels, the states largest casino, amusement parks, etc. You can jump onto a plane or a ferry and spend the day, or maybe even a night or weekend on a beautiful island. There are plenty of great fishing spots, shopping centres to die for, fine restraunts, race courses of all sorts, a speedway for the rev heads!. The list goes on and on.
Who wouldn't feel at home amongst the palm trees gently swaying in the summer breeze? And that is exactly what this place is to me- home. Where is it you ask? None other than the gorgeous PERTH. Come sample what we have to offer over in the west and i can guarantee you'll be back for mor e or maybe, just like me, you'll come for a holiday and love it so much you won't go back to where you came from!!

Well Meme, if the WA Tourist authority has been searching for someone to bang their drum for them they need look no further...lol  You obviously love the lifestyle there in Perth ( it's a place I'd love to see myself one of these days ).
Personally I have my heart set elsewhere ( just where that is I'm not really sure - but I know it isn't here! )
Rather than stopping at the travel agents in future I might just give you a call and get the low down on those Romantic and Special places where we of the poetic heartbeat can find heaps of cuddles and mushy stuff
Looking forward to the next installment of Getaway here...lol

Amsterdam, Prague and Paris are my favourite cities. They ooze history, sophistication, culture and charm! Amsterdam with its tree-lined canals, old houses and coffee shops (errm delete that last part!) is particularly beautiful. So I would recommend any of these cities.

Cheerio!

Aus if u get the chance to go to France, Carnac is well worth a visit, My son and I go over to France 2 or 3 times a year to visit friends and my sons Father. Carnac is a village near the atlantic coast of Brittany in northwestern France and is famous for having more than 3,000 prehistoric stone megaliths. Paris is very beautiful at too especially at night. An evening trip aboard the bataux mouch is a must!

My favourite place to visit has got to be Australia, especially the NT. we had such a wonderful time in the 3 months my son and I spent travelling around it, We visited a rodeo in Alice springs, hand fed rock wallabys, held a baby salt water croc, nursed koalas and kangaroos, hired a house boat and spent a week travelling down the Murrey river, stayed in an underground hotel in Coober Pedy and went searching for opals, visited an extinct volcano, Went camel racing in Port Augusta, watched Whales in Granit Island got bit by an insect and spent two days in hospital ...but apart from that had such a wonderful time, there's so much to see and do. 3 months wasn't long enough to fit it all in. Malaysia is a nice place to visit too but very, very hot. Will always remember the baby Orang utans in the rainforrests of Borneo ...such a wonderful sight to behold. I'm off to Africa with my son this Saturday coming, Can't wait!
