Vanilla-Scented Holiday Milk Punch

Makes 6 servings

Simple to mix, this warming punch is flecked with bits of real vanilla bean. For a final flourish, dust the top with cinnamon sugar if you like.

1 1/2 cups heavy cream
3 tablespoons plus 1/2 cup sugar

3 cups whole milk
1/2 vanilla bean, halved lengthwise
1/2 cup whiskey
1/3 cup orange liqueur
1/4 cup hazelnut liqueur

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon mixed with 2 teaspoons sugar; optional

Combine 1 cup cream with 3 tablespoons sugar in whipped cream whipper. Cover and refrigerate.

Meanwhile, combine remaining 1/2 cup cream, remaining 1/2 cup sugar, and milk in heavy large saucepan. Scrape in seeds from vanilla bean. Gradually heat mixture until surface shimmers. Stir in whisky and liqueurs and heat through.

Ladle hot punch into small mugs or heatproof glasses. Top with whipped cream - and cinnamon sugar, if desired. Serve immediately.
