Thanksgiving Timeline

One week before - thursday before thanksgiving

* Purchase the frozen turkey; keep it frozen.

* Stock up on condiments and nonperishables.
   pickles, black olives, cranberry sauce jelly, wine, cider, etc.

 * Buy the ingredients for make-ahead dishes:
    sides
    pies
    rolls, etc.

Three days before - monday

* Buy fresh turkey or start thawing the frozen turkey in the refrigerator.

* Purchase perishables: stuff for relish tray, fruit for fruit salad, sour cream for dip, stuff for side dishes, etc.
Tuesday
* Hard boil eggs for the deviled eggs.
* Make Relish Tray
* Make Dip, etc.

Wednesday

* Assemble the ingredients for Green Bean casserole, except for crunchy onions.  Store casserole covered in refrigerator.

* Clean and prepare turkey with seasonings. Roast Turkey.
Let rest, slice and place in covered container, with some of the gravy.
 
* Make gravy.  Store in covered container.

* Assemble side dishes; cover and refrigerate.

* Make any salads (fruit, 10 layer, etc); cover and refrigerate.

* Prepare and bake Pies, Gingerbread, etc. cool completely. Cover and refrigerate.

* Make deviled eggs.

* Set Table, including all serving pieces, etc.

Turkey Day Time Line - thursday

Three to four hours ahead 

* Make homemade rolls or biscuits if making.

* Pull green bean casserole, sweet potatoes and preassembled side dishes from refrigerator and allow to stand at room temperature while turkey and gravy is warming.  Bake dressing.

* Place rolls or biscuits in oven, and bake.

wednesday will be my busiest day...ending with staying up
late cooking the turkey last thing.
