Joe has flattened his bully. I had a talk to his mum and dad last week, I apologised in advance if they thought I was interfering, and also apologised if anything I said offended them, but to me Joe's happiness and welfare were worth paying any price for, and if they were angry at me, then so be it. I pointed out that they were both just toddlers when I went through the heartbreak of my son being bullied and I told them I prayed to God they never went through it, and never had to deal with the injuries I had to deal with. I also prayed they would never know the horror of walking in a room and seeing their beloved son trying to kill himself, but with their attitude they were heading that way. I told them Joe wouldn't get a reputation as a troublemaker just for defending himself, but if he carried on being afraid to hit back he would get a reputation as an easy target and become the school punchbag. I told them in the strongest terms that Joe needed their love. support and reassurance, he didn't need threatening with even more punishment, they were putting him between a rock and a hard place, he was damned if he did and damned if he didn't. Thankfully they saw the point and to be honest I think they had already begun to realise their way wasn't working. They had a chat with Joe and explained he wouldn't be in trouble from them for retaliating, but if he was punished by the school he would have to accept it. This morning Joe was taking a short cut to the science block, and Liam and his cronies stepped out and Liam shoved Joe, Joe bounced back and allowed the momentum to carry him forward and gave Liam such a thump it knocked him to the floor, he then told them all that in future that was what they could expect if they gave him any more trouble. According to a friend of Joe's they were all so stunned no one even answered him, the last they saw was Liam being helped to his feet. He saw Liam a few more times today but Joe said Liam just put his head down and walked by. Joe was 10ft tall when he came home.
