Hey MG,
I came across a Beretta Mini Cougar thats used. It's a .40 and has night sights, 2 mags. The asking price is $375.00, which fits my budget and the gun appears to be very nice shape, in fact it looks new. Any thoughts on this gun? It looked the right size for a stash gun I'm looking for.
Thanks,
BGS

This sounds like an excellent piece and the price is right.  Consider getting a spare magazine for it -- on all my pistols, I have at least 3 (minimum): one in the pistol and two spares.

Do you have other pistols in .40 S&W or will this be the first?  The .40 S&W is right between the 9mm and .45 ACP as a defense round.

The main thing for me would be how the pistol fits my hands and accessibilty of the controls -- trigger, safety, etc.  If everything works for you, then go for it.  Beretta makes a good gun.  See if Pachmayr or Hogue or Uncle Mike's has neoprene replacement grips for this pistol.  The reason is that the neoprene grips help you keep a firm grip on things when your hands are oily and sweaty and they also help damp-out felt recoil.

Yes, MG I own a PT101 Taurus .40cal. I like the gun very much, as it has a good punch, yet is very comfortable to shoot. On my next day off, Tuesday, I'm going to look at the gun, and if it's still there, I plan on buying it. If not, my second choice is a Taurus .357 mag snub-nose, model # 617. It's a 7 shot & is ported. The Charter Arms gun fell through the cracks. Around here, no one carries Charter Arms. I had one on special order the Gander Mountain, but it turns out that after a week of waiting, they have no source for the gun either. Thanks again for your advice and help.
