Hey MG

Can you tell me the differences between the .357sig and the .40cal?
Which one is more powerful?
Is the .357sig ammo readily available?
Right now I'm looking to buy one of these pistols,
   Kimber KPD, .40cal
              or
   Smith & Wesson M&P pistol

Thoughts?

I don't haven't done too much on the .357 Sig, but it is a .357 diameter bullet in a bottle-necked case.  The concept is much like the .30 Luger or 7.63 Mauser (7.62x25 Tokarev).  Smaller bullet, high speed in a larger, bottle-necked case.  Wickipedia probably has ballistics on both the .40 S&W and the .357 Sig.  For me, the .40 S&W is probably more widespread and easier to find than the .357 Sig because of law enforcement use.

Me, I go with the Marine's Rules for Gunfighting #26:  "Never attend a gunfight with a pistol whose first number does not begin with "4"."

Thanks for the input, MG. I've been looking at Winchester ammo site, and you're right, the .357 sig loads are not too common as far as different choices. I scrapped the Cougar idea, mainly because a gun made in Turkey gives me the willies. I've decided on the S&W in a .40cal, the M&P pistol. It's more money, but I like the quality of the my Snubnose. It will take me more time to save the dough, but I know it's a quality product and it's American made.
