I know I could probably rig up something to cushion the recoil of my shotgun, but do they (gun industry) have anything to protrct my shoulder?

From Master Guns:
Get yourself a PAST Magnum Recoil Shield from Midway or another supplier.  Search "PAST recoil shield.  This is a closed foam pad attached to an ambidexterous shoulder pad that attaches with a chest strap.  They come in three grades, from $30 to $40.  It allows you to shoot in shirt sleeves without pain.  I have one.

I hears ya, MG! Ain't no bastard of any illegals gonna be a citizen in my USA!
BTW, gonna get that $40 shoulder pad/recoil protector on payday (6-1). Ain't givin' up my Maverick, but we gots to have it for our shoulder, bro'!
From Master Guns:
Sighting in a 12 ga. for slugs is the equivalent of getting a root canal without any anesthetic.  Shooting off a bench amplifies the recoil and it HURTS!  Get the pad and save your shoulder.

Yesterday after shooting, Paul and I stopped at the Sportsmen's Warehouse and got a PAST super Magnum recoil protector that's ambidexterous.
