When wearing your handgun in a holster, do you require any additional support on your belt?

The only time I required extra support (equipment suspenders) was when I was in the Army and that was because of the addition equipment I had to carry.

I don't own a holster. When I do feel a need to carry, it's in a purse or at the small of my back.

The kind of belt you wear depends on how much additional junk you want to carry on your belt.  Your going to need a 2-inch wide belt at minimum.

A pistol belt is designed to carry the holster and spare magazines (or revolver reloads).  G.I. pistol belts are designed to attach first aid kits, fighting knives or bayonets, and canteens.  They also serve as attaching points for other load-bearing equipment.

One thing for certain, the average, thin, dress-up belt isn't up to the task of carrying a loaded pistol and spare ammo.  You'll need to size your belt (and pant belt loops to accomodate the belt) accordingly.
