If a brand new 'super improved' ammo for your pet firearm came out, would you be interested and how would you test it?

I would be curious, but like the saying goes:

first id check the stats on the new round

then fire it looking at three things

how well did it perform (recoil, accuracy, stovepipes, bad rds or misfires)

does my gun like the round

and finally

do i like the rd

I would add one thing to your list Chief, and that is:

Set up a firing position where the weapon is immobilized and fire rounds for patterning.  The accuracy does not matter on this test as much as the pattern because the weapon remained immobile and gives a proper representation of haow accurate each round will be when needed.  I would use a number of test ranges to see how it performs at shorter and longer distances.

I could head out into the desert and set up all kinds of tests, but I already know what works in my .357 (158gr, SJHP), so I wouldn't need any real tests done. Super improved to me just means more unnecessary expense for me.
