When out hunting, etc. do you police the area for spent rounds even if they are not your own? I do, solely because I try to respect nature and do not wish to see the land despoiled because someone else did not care enough.
At Ben Avery shooting range, we have to sweep the area/slot where we shoot, but only off the front end of the platform. The range has a machine that sucks up all the expended brass. Since I shoot a minimum of 50 .38s or .357s when I go, there are lots of folks that ask if they can have my brass, to which I say 'go for it!'
I have my own place to shoot so my answer would depend on what Im shooting. Steel cases stay where they land. Brass cases that are bredan primed or for calibers I dont reload for go in a bucket for a trip to the local recycle center. Brass that I reload goes into buckets in my room until needed.
