Attention Pennsylvania Hunters: Help Stop the Attack on Our Hunting Heritage! | | Tuesday, July 01, 2008 | | Please Contact Your State Representative Today! As we have reported, amendments filed by State Representative Daylin Leach (D-149) to Senate Bill 151 and House Bill 1543 could be considered by the House at ANY MOMENT. Simply stated, this legislation would criminalize and ban organized pigeon shoots in Pennsylvania by amending Title 18 ("Crimes and Offenses") of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes.
Pigeon shooting is an historic and legitimate activity steeped in tradition with many participants throughout the Commonwealth and around the world. Participants are law-abiding, ethical shooting enthusiasts, hunters, and sportsmen who would not tolerate an activity that would constitute cruelty to animals. Pigeon shoots have been part of Pennsylvania’s storied hunting heritage for over one hundred years. Now, national “animal rights” extremist groups, led by the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), have organized and funded efforts in Pennsylvania and around the country to ban this longstanding traditional shooting sport. These zealots have set their sights on banning all hunting species by species throughout the United States, not just in Pennsylvania. Today, anti-hunting extremists are focusing on pigeon shooting, tomorrow it will be deer or turkey hunting. The CEO of HSUS, Wayne Pacelle, has admitted, “If we could shut down all sport hunting in a moment, we would.” Pacelle has even said, "We are going to use the ballot box and the democratic process to stop all hunting in the United States... We will take it species by species until all hunting is stopped..." Please contact your State Representative IMMEDIATELY and respectfully ask him or her to protect Pennsylvania’s rich hunting tradition by opposing Representative Leach’s amendments. Contact information for your State Representative can be found here.

Representative Leach has filed amendments to House Bill 1543. These amendments could be voted on by the House next week! Simply put, this legislation would criminalize and ban organized Pigeon shoots in Pennsylvania by amending Title 18 ("Crimes and Offenses") of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes.
Pigeon shooting is an historic and legitimate activity steeped in tradition with many participants throughout the Commonwealth and around the world. For over one hundred years, shoots have been held in Pennsylvania by law-abiding, ethical shooting enthusiasts, hunters, and sportsmen who would not tolerate an activity that would constitute cruelty to animals. National "animal rights" extremist groups, led by the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), have organized and funded efforts in Pennsylvania and around the country to ban this longstanding traditional shooting sport. Make no mistake; this isn't just about banning pigeon shooting, but banning all hunting species by species.
Please contact Representative Leach TODAY and respectfully ask him to cease his attack on Pennsylvania’s sportsmen. Representative Leach can be contacted by phone at (717) 783-9114, by fax at (717) 787-0861, or email [email protected].

Pennsylvania: Pittsburgh Zoning Code Violates Second Amendment Rights! | | Monday, September 29, 2008 | | Please Make Plans to Attend This Event! On Thursday, October 2, at 10:00am, Peter Georgiades, a Second Amendment rights attorney, will be challenging the legality of a recently enacted provision in the Pittsburgh zoning code. This provision restricts “gun-related businesses” from being established within city limits, even if the lot is zoned for commercial use. This provision only applies to businesses that are in any way involved with the “sale” of firearms. This is another blatant attack on the firearm industry and Pennsylvania’s law-abiding citizens. Please make plans to try and attend this important meeting! Date: Thursday, October 2, 2008 Time: 10:00 a.m. Location: Robin Civic Building 200 Ross Street, First Floor Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15219 Details: A sign-in sheet will be provided next to the door. If you cannot attend, please contact the members of the zoning board at (412) 255-2231 and let them know that you support Mr. Georgiades appeal. Board members are listed below: Wrenna L. Watson, Chairwoman Alice B. Mitinger David F. Toal

| Pennsylvania: Lancaster Intelligencer Journal - Telephone Poll PEOPLE POLL: REPORTING LOST OR STOLEN HANDGUNS | | Thursday, October 23, 2008 | | The Lancaster Intelligencer Journal is taking a telephone poll concerning the latest activity from Mayors from across the state pushing anti-gun ordinances requiring the mandatory reporting of lost or stolen handguns.
These ordinances are in direct violation of Pennsylvania's preemption law. State preemption regulating firearms was enacted by the legislature to avoid the possibility of 2,639 separate firearm laws across the Commonwealth. Without preemption there would be a myriad of local firearm laws making compliance impossible for law-abiding gun owners.
Please call the Lancaster Intelligencer Journal People Poll today and voice your opinion. Calls will be received until 6p.m. Friday. 1-866-346-7655 PRESS 2# TO VOTE NO!
