Tennessee: Pro-Gun Legislation Passes In Eleventh Hour!

Friday, May 23, 2008

Please Continue Checking www.NRAILA.org for Updates on Your NRA License Plate

The Tennessee 105th General Assembly adjourned its 2008 Regular Session after midnight on Wednesday, May 21.  In its final hours, the House passed unanimously the specialty license plate omnibus bill, House Bill 3017, sponsored by Representative Phillip Pinion (D-77).  Attached to HB 3017 is an amendment sponsored by Senator Doug Jackson (D-25), creating a National Rifle Association license plate, which would allocate funds to Tennessee scholastic clay target programs. House Resolution 390, sponsored by Representative Joe McCord (R-08), also passed the House late Wednesday, creating a summer study committee to address the issue of handgun carry permits in certain places, including restaurants that serve alcohol.

Please continue to visit www.NRAILA.org for updates on how to get your Tennessee NRA license plate and to find out what members Speaker Jimmy Naifeh (D-81) will assign to the Right-to-Carry Reform Study Committee.

Tennessee: Williamson County Commission to Consider Attack on Right-to-Carry on Monday, September 8!

Friday, September 05, 2008

Please Stand-Up and Make Your Voice Heard!

On Monday, September 8, the Williamson County Commission will hear an anti-gun proposal, Resolution No. 9-08-31.

Resolution No. 9-08-31 attempts to impose new restrictions on law-abiding citizens’ Right-to-Carry in Williamson County.  Resolution No. 9-08-31 would establish a policy prohibiting guns in all buildings owned and controlled by Williamson County and to direct signs providing notice be posted at the entrance ways of each building.  Passing this resolution will do nothing to thwart violent crime, but instead will create an ambiguous boundary preventing law-abiding citizens from carrying a firearm for self-defense even where they have a legal right to be.

Please click here to view the packet of September Resolutions.  Resolution No. 9-08-31 can be found on Page 54 of 57.

This proposal will require a Majority (13 of 24 Commissioners) to pass or fail.

Please attend this meeting at 7:00 P.M. on Monday, September 8 in the auditorium of the Williamson County Administrative Building, located at 1320 West Main Street in Franklin, to show your opposition to this attack on Right-to-Carry.  If you are unable to attend, please contact your County Commissioner in opposition of Resolution No. 9-08-31.  Contact information can be found below.

Tennessee: Williamson County Commission Pulls Anti-Gun Resolution from Agenda!

Tuesday, September 09, 2008

Thank You to Those Who Answered the Call!

On Monday, September 8, the Williamson County Commission pulled Resolution No. 9-08-31 from the Commission’s agenda.

This resolution would have imposed new restrictions on law-abiding citizens’ Right-to-Carry in Williamson County by establishing a policy prohibiting guns in all buildings owned and controlled by Williamson County and to direct signs providing notice be posted at the entrance ways of each building.  We would like to extend a special thanks to Ralph Bacue, NRA Life Member, who spoke out on behalf of our Second Amendment freedoms.

We would like to thank all of the NRA members who attended Monday night’s Commission meeting, as well as those who spoke out in opposition to Resolution No. 9-08-31.  Without you, this victory would not have been possible.

We would also like to thank the County Commissioners for recognizing the Second Amendment rights of Williamson County’s law-abiding citizens.
