Wassail bowl is a southen punch served during Christmas season to guests that drop by to visit during the holidays. It is served warm to take chill off the guest traveling in cold winter air.
                               Wassail Bowl ( Vodka)
                                      whole cloves
3   small oranges, washed and dried
2   quarts (8 cup) apple juice
                          1/4   cup lemon juice
5   (2 inch) pieces pf cinnamon sticks
                              1   cup of Vodka
                          1/4    cup of brandy

Insert cloves 1/2 inch apart in unpeeled oranges.  Place in shallow pan and bake, in moderate oven ( 350 degrees F.) for 25 minutes.  Heat apple juice to simmer and stir in lemon juice, cinnamon sticks, and oranges.  Cover and cook over very low heat for 30 minutes.  Remove from heat and gently stir in Vodka and brandy. Pour into punch bowl or large chaffing dish over hot-water bath.  Serve warm.  Makes 18   4-ounce servings.
