6 squirrels
3 quarts of water
1/4 cup diced bacon
1/4 tsp cayenne
1 tsp sugar
2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1 cup diced onion
2 cups canned tomatoes
2 cups cubed potatoes
2 cups lima beans fresh or frozen
2 cups corn,fresh or frozen
1/2 dry bread crumbs
2 tbsp melted butter
method=skin and clean squirrels,remove waxey scent glands on forelegs cut into serving pieces,wash thoroughly.place meat in a large stock pot add water bring to a boil,reduce heat and simmer for 1-11/2 hours,skim surface occasionallyremove meat from bones and return to liquidadd, baconcayenne ,sugar,salt,pepper, onion tomatoes potatoes and lima beans,,cook 1 hour,,add corn cook 10 more minutes,,add melted butter to bread crumbsput stew in a buttered casserole dish place buttered crumbs on top of stew,,bake for twenty minutes or until crumbs are golden brown,,,len
