4 cups of bread cut in cubes,,,1/4 cup sugar,,,1/4 cup rasins,,3 eggs beat good,,,1 1/2cups of milk,,,1 tsp of vanilla,,,,1 tsp of vanilla.,,, preheat oven to 375,,,,mix everything into a semi mush,,,,stand casserole dish in a pan of water,, (or a roaster works well),,,to cook evenly,,,bake 1 hour or until top is golden brown,,,and custard is set,,,serve topped with butter scotch sauce.
butterscotch sauce,,,1 1/2 cups of brown sugar,,,1 1/2 cups cold water,,,3 table spoons of flour to thicken,,,2 tablespoons of butter,,,1 teaspoon vanilla,,,1/2 tsp.,,,of vinigar,,,,mix brown sugar and flour well,,,,,put in sauce pan on the stove on medium,,,add enough cold water to make it mix and simmer then gradually add the rest of the cold water,,,.use a whisk tostir bring to a boil,,stirring (constantly),,, then add butter vanilla and vinigar and mix. this is a nice treat for the kids!
