Many years ago there was a woman in my life. I couldn't capture her, because there could not have been any satisfactory conclusion for her. But, I did try to capture her in a poem. Years later, I still think of her, often, and allude to her as - -
'My Love'
Let me lay my head on your lushness.
Let me nurse at the breasts
That every living man adores and
Which every woman envies.
Let my fingers caress the most
Perfect skin that God ever
Used to clothe anyone.
Let my nose smell the wonderfully,
Empty-fragrance of your 'crowning glory.'
Let me always be held in
The gaze of your beautiful eyes.
Let me forever bask in
The radiance of your smile.
Let our love be intertwining,
Indivisable, undenying
And unlimited.
Let us live for each other
To the complete exclusion of all else,
Yet, let us also be independent,
So that we may better support
Our love with the
Fibre that comes only by
Being a true individual.
Let me be enraptured by
Your lilting personality.
For all time.
Let your lips never cease
The delightful chatter that
Fills my mind, in misty moments,
Much like the echoes of
Long-ago lullabies.
Let your gate-of-love
Swing open to receive my passion.
Has a man lived,
Who has not lived in your presence?
I think not!
Let our love be strong, fresh,
Refreshing and renewing.
Most of all for me,
Let it be you!
Let me stay, for only here
Does my mind, my body,
My soul - my all, come
Together, as was God's intention.
Let our love, as this poem
Be never-ending. Let it not
Suffer any of the common
Ravages of time.
Love me, and I shall always - -
