These hands have been around for quite some time.
When they started out a dollars worth, is now just a dime.
They are hardened and scared from an honest day’s toil.
They have even worked the land and turned the soil.
They have taken bucks afield and fish in a brook.
They have worked on cars in every cranny and nook.
As they held new life they were soft and strong.
Hopping the best for this baby, life to be long.
As they have molded both steel and wood.
It was done with pleasure and that feels good.
They don’t grip quite as strong as they use to.
It takes a little longer for some things to do.
Today a handshake isn’t what it use to be.
In my day it was binding and that’s still good for me.
