Maybe not as I am
It may be too soon
But as I was, as we were
As we crested the waves
And contested the outcome
As we laughed with the victor
And drank deeply in vanquished's name
As we tasted life's offerings
And made offerings of our own
Think of our time together

Joined in the earth's waters

To give some small protection
To yours and mine.
Fear not our next meeting
It will be as it always was
Laughing with the victorious
And drinking to the other

Think of me when you come here
Think of me on water

It is but one stage
Of the endless circle,
We move onto the next
Often in stately progression.
The time of arrival unknown
The leaving usually the same.
Seldom are there choices
We are willing to make
Fewer yet have the courage.
Choices were made
And I'm still laughing with the victor
And toasting the vanquished
And we will soon
Do so together
I will think of you as I wait
And ride the waves
And I hope you will
Think of me.
