TY Annie, Dan & BG.

April Love did have a very interesting beginning. I was laying in bed one Sunday morning long after I should have been up and gone to church. It seemed that the "glue" that I had drank the night before wouldn't let me open my eyes??

Suddenly, I could feel or sense this "presence" nearby. I was too lazy to move but I struggled to get my eyes open while lying on my right-side. After what seemed like many attempts my one eye popped open and I was nose to muzzle with my big dog Cinders who wanted outside to pee??? It scared the livin' (deleted) out of me but afterwards I started to chuckle about it and had this idea for a poem. LOL It was amazin' how quickly I wrote it out but it musta taken me a year to fine-tune it the way I wanted it.

I first published April Love under the title of October Love to suggest my advancing years and the day-dreams of an older gent  - - October being an older month on the calendar, too. However, after much musing and consideration it became clear that it HAD to be April Love? (With apoligies, of course, to Pat Boone and whoever wrote that wonderful song.) I don't think WHY it had to be April Love needs any explanation LOL

We found Cinders stiff as a board at the bottom of the basement stairs a few years later on one very, cold January day. A real old and faithful friend! My boy and I carted her down to the swamp and and buried her in a soft spot beneath the big ash tree that is still there. I think of her everytime I wander by.

TY Ed -
