U.S. Customs and Border Patrol recently arrested a Mexican truck driver for allegedly hauling more than two tons of marijuana into California through the Calexico, CA, port of entry.
On Tuesday, July 29, border agents inspected a box truck with a gamma-ray machine and noticed “anomalies” in the truck’s reported shipment of printer cartridges. Upon closer review, agents found a green leafy substance hidden inside 37 boxes.
In all, authorities found 5,354 pounds of marijuana with an estimated value of $2.1 million.
The driver, a 51-year-old Mexican male, was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents and taken to Imperial County, CA, jail. The box truck and marijuana were seized by Customs and Border Patrol.
